Twin Towns boxer Caoimhin Connolly named to Ireland squad for World U19 Championships

Caoimhin Connolly of the Twin Towns Boxing Club has been confirmed as a member of the 12‑strong Irish team for the World U19 Boxing Championships in Budva, Montenegro, next month.

Recent achievements

Connolly, who competes at flyweight, won gold at the Heart of a Dragon Box Cup in Swansea in July, also receiving the Youth Boxer of the Tournament award after defeating England’s Elliot Phillips in the final and Wales’ Yaya Suleman in the semi‑final.

Earlier in the year he represented Ireland at an international tournament in Edinburgh, losing a narrow 3‑2 split decision to Scotland’s Aaron Sarwar. He was Irish Youth 48 kg champion in 2025, beating Kurt Kinsella in the final, and made his international debut in 2025 after winning gold at the William Wallace Box Cup in Scotland in 2024.

The Irish squad also includes reigning European U19 champion and 2023 World champion John Donoghue of Olympic BC, Mullingar, his brother Jason Donoghue, double European medalist Louise Joyce, and Euro U19 bronze medallists Kalib Walshe, Kayleigh Byrne and Grace Bailey. In October, Connolly took part in an exhibition bout with Conan McSorely on the undercard of the Rumble In The Hills Rising Stars event.
