Trump says tech CEOs sign “morally binding” AI agreement

US President Donald Trump announced on Tuesday that the heads of the largest American technology and artificial‑intelligence firms have signed a “morally binding” agreement to place controls on AI.

During a White House luncheon with top tech executives, Trump described the deal – titled the Joint Commitment On Frontier Responsibilities – as “almost like a constitution” and said it provides a form of protection.

The President also issued an executive order that officially rebrands “artificial intelligence” as “superintelligence”. He stated that the agreement, signed by the biggest people in the world and himself, represents a significant step toward self‑policing of the technology.

The announcement was made without further detail on the specific controls or the companies involved.
