“The Dominator” Donovan defeats Carr in Dublin super‑welterweight bout

Edward “The Dominator” Donovan secured a 59‑55 decision over Dublin‑born Peter Carr in a six‑round super‑welterweight fight on the Judgement Day Card at the National Arena.

The Limerick native, whose record improves to 8‑2‑0, described his performance as “clinical” in the first five rounds before “getting a bit reckless” in the sixth, but maintained that he had the fight in the bag.

Promoter Jay Byrne said the victory puts Donovan in contention for a European title opportunity, noting that Paul Ryan, who defeated Paddy Gallagher at Croke Park last month, is slated to fight in April and that “me and Paul Ryan next” is Donovan’s aim.

Ringside on Saturday was Donovan’s brother, IBF welterweight mandatory Paddy Donovan, while fellow Limerick boxer Kian “Mean” Hedderman recorded a win over Argentina’s Marcos Nicolas Karalitzky, moving his professional light‑heavyweight record to 4‑0.
