Meta hires former MongoDB CEO to lead new Enterprise Platform

Meta has appointed Chirantan Desai, the outgoing chief executive of MongoDB, as chief enterprise platform officer to head its newly created Meta Enterprise Platform.

Mark Zuckerberg said the unit will initially focus on delivering Meta’s “full technology stack” – including AI agents and APIs – to businesses and developers, describing it as a major new pillar aimed at helping organisations use AI to grow and transform.

Desai joins Meta after roughly ten months as president and CEO of MongoDB. His previous roles include about 14 months as Cloudflare’s president of product and engineering and more than seven years at ServiceNow, where he served as president and COO.

In response, MongoDB has named Dev Ittycheria as interim president and CEO while it searches for a permanent replacement. Ittycheria, who led the company for 11 years up to 2025, said he was honoured to reprise the role.

MongoDB reaffirmed its guidance for the third quarter and full‑year fiscal 2027, and noted its April announcement to invest €74 million in its Irish operations, creating 200 new jobs.
