Trump and tech firms sign voluntary AI self‑regulation pact

Critics note that the arrangement does not introduce specific legal “guardrails” or enforceable standards, relying instead on the goodwill of the companies involved.

The summit, which gathered senior executives from major tech firms, highlighted the growing pressure on governments and industry to address the risks associated with AI, including bias, privacy concerns and potential misuse.

While the voluntary approach has been welcomed by some as a step toward cooperation, observers question whether it will be sufficient to ensure robust oversight of rapidly advancing AI technologies.
