Woman charged with 65 fraud and theft offences at Ontario hospitals

A woman has been charged with 65 offences, including fraud and theft, for alleged wrongdoing at several Ontario health‑care facilities.

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) identified the suspect as 34‑year‑old Nassim Eronn of Burlington, a city 56 km south of Toronto. The charges comprise 34 counts of fraud under $5,000, 13 counts of theft under $5,000, seven counts of disobeying a court order, as well as breach of trust and impersonation.

Police say the investigation began after multiple reports of theft and fraud involving patients and staff at health centres across the province. The OPP started probing the case in May following a theft report at Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital, about 130 km north of Toronto, and later expanded the inquiry to four additional hospitals.

Search warrants were executed at the five facilities, and significant amounts of property were seized. The hospitals involved are Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital (Orillia), Headwaters Health Care Centre (Orangeville), Trillium Health Partners, Mississauga Hospital (Mississauga), St Joseph’s Health Centre (Toronto) and West Park Health Care Centre (Toronto). Incidents under investigation span from February 2024 to as recently as last month.

Investigators believe more victims may exist and have urged anyone with relevant information or suspicious financial transactions to contact the OPP.
