A silver electric Kia was destroyed after being swept onto Rossnowlagh beach by Storm Boelo on Tuesday afternoon.
Videos posted to social media showed the vehicle stranded on the sand as the storm surge rolled in, with no owner present to retrieve it. By the following morning, as the winds eased, the full extent of the damage became apparent.
Gardaí reported that the car’s windows were shattered and the roof and front end suffered severe crushing. The vehicle remains partially submerged, its right‑hand tyres lodged in the sand near the rocks where it finally came to rest.
Local residents and beach‑goers were able to view the wreckage after the storm passed, and the incident has been highlighted as a reminder of the hazards posed by sudden coastal surges during severe weather.
No injuries were reported, and there have been no statements from the car’s owner or the manufacturer at this stage.
