Uisce Éireann confirmed that restoration work is under way to re‑establish water supplies in several Donegal towns after Storm Boelo damaged water‑treatment infrastructure.

The supplier’s website notes that power outages have interrupted treatment services, affecting water provision in Glenties, Fintown, Cullionboy, Leghawny, Drumkeen, Culdaff and Fahan. Additional outages have been reported in Lower Inishowen for properties served by the Dooish Reservoir.

Damien O’Sullivan of Uisce Éireann said customers may experience water outages or supply interruptions until repairs are finished, and that normal supply usually returns within two to three hours after work is completed, though it can take longer for those at the network’s end or on higher ground.

Vulnerable customers who have registered with the utility will receive direct communications for outages lasting more than four hours. The company urges all customers to stay updated via water.ie, the @IWCare X account, or by calling 1800 278 278, and offers free text alerts for those who register their Eircode and mobile number.
