Gardaí are treating the death of a 35‑year‑old man found unresponsive at a rented house near Crookstown, County Cork, as unexplained.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, with calls received shortly after 3.20 am to the property at Farran on the N22 Cork‑to‑Macroom Road. Officers arrived and the man, originally from Dunmanway, was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.

Preliminary observations suggest the man sustained head injuries, although the exact circumstances remain unclear. The scene has been secured for forensic examination.

The Office of the State Pathologist and the local Coroner have been notified, and a post‑mortem is scheduled to take place later today at Cork University Hospital. Findings from the post‑mortem will inform Gardaí’s next steps in the investigation.

The investigation is ongoing, and further updates will be provided as they become available.
