Galway in advanced talks with Éamonn Fitzmaurice for senior football manager role
Galway GAA are in advanced discussions with former Kerry senior football manager Éamonn Fitzmaurice about appointing him as…

UK Northern Ireland Secretary Chris Bryant said a solution to the Drumcree dispute remains “tantalisingly just a bit far away” after holding intensive talks on Monday.
The meetings, described by Bryant as “very positive”, brought together representatives of the Orange Order, residents of Garvaghy Road and political parties to discuss the contentious loyal parade in Portadown.
The Orange Order called the discussion “very constructive”, while Portadown district master Nigel Dawson confirmed the parade determination is still a live document, though Bryant declined to comment on its legal status.
The Garvaghy Road Residents’ Coalition indicated willingness to enter mediation, with spokesperson Breandán Mac Cionnaith urging an international mediator experienced in Irish conflict resolution.
Political leaders also met Bryant. Sinn Féin’s Michelle O’Neill defended her participation in a Garvaghy Road protest, rejecting accusations of contempt for the Assembly, and the DUP pledged action against Sinn Féin after senior members joined the protest.
Bryant stressed that preserving the power‑sharing institutions is “the most important thing”, warning that ongoing tensions could deter investment in Northern Ireland despite recent strong economic growth.
