Met Éireann issues yellow heavy‑rain warning for 20 counties

Met Éireann has placed a yellow heavy‑rain warning over 20 counties in the south and east of Ireland.

The warning covers the whole of Leinster and Munster, as well as County Cavan and County Monaghan. It warns of heavy, thundery rain and a risk of localised flooding, with motorists likely to encounter poor visibility and difficult travelling conditions.

The alert takes effect at 04:00 on Sunday and remains in force until 11:00 the same morning.

Although Donegal is not included in the warning, the county is still expected to experience a wet and windy start to Sunday, with heavy or thundery showers early in the day. Conditions are forecast to improve later, bringing sunny spells and isolated showers from mid‑afternoon, and temperatures between 14 °C and 16 °C.
