U.S. Vice‑President Kamala Harris has been touring seven states to campaign for Democratic candidates in the final weeks before the midterm elections.
During a two‑day visit to Georgia, Harris told supporters that the election must produce a turnout “too big to rig”, echoing former President Donald Trump’s own call for high voter participation.
Harris, who lost the 2020 presidential race to Trump, used the campaign trail to criticise the Republican leader, describing him as “callous, corrupt and incompetent” and dubbing him the “decorator in chief” for White House renovations.
She urged Black Americans to “honour the ancestors” with their votes and called on Democrats to adopt a more aggressive governing style, calling for “structural work” such as expanding the U.S. Supreme Court, granting statehood to Washington D.C. and Puerto Rico, and reconsidering the Electoral College.
Speaking at a Democratic fundraising gala in Atlanta, Harris warned that Trump could attempt to meddle in the upcoming elections and stressed the need for “ruthlessness” in using political power to deliver on commitments.
Her itinerary also included stops in Nevada, New Hampshire, Michigan and Mississippi, where she supported Senate candidate Scott Colom, emphasizing the importance of Democratic investment in the South.
