Inshowen teenager Terence Doherty netted a late brace to earn Derry City a 2‑2 draw with Sligo Rovers in the Premier Division’s final round.
The 17‑year‑old made his first League of Ireland start at The Showgrounds and struck both goals in the final 13 minutes of the match. Sligo had led 2‑0 at half‑time, but Doherty’s late heroics secured a point for the Candystripes and clinched fifth place in the league.
Derry City now turn their focus to next week’s FAI Cup Final, where they will face Waterford. Meanwhile, Sligo Rovers finished the season 15 points adrift at the bottom of the table and are relegated to the First Division for the coming season.
