Éire Óg and Inagh‑Kilnamona set for TUS Senior semi‑final clash

The TUS Senior Championship semi‑final between Éire Óg and Inagh‑Kilnamona will be played at Zimmer Biomet Páirc Chiosóg Ennis on Sunday at 3.30 pm.

The two clubs have met five times in knockout stages over the past six seasons, a rivalry that intensified after Shane McInerney’s early goal gave Éire Óg a 1‑17 to 0‑17 win in the 2021 semi‑final.

Éire Óg reached their first senior final in 2008 after that victory, while Inagh‑Kilnamona were later edged out by Ballyea in a final that followed a dominant eleven‑point quarter‑final win over Éire Óg.

In the 2024 quarter‑final the moratorium on the derby was lifted, with Inagh‑Kilnamona prevailing 2‑16 to 0‑22, and last year Gerry O’Connor’s side beat Inagh‑Kilnamona 3‑21 to 1‑17 thanks to goals from Marco Cleary, Darren O’Brien and Darren Moroney.

Éire Óg have scored 13 goals in four matches this season (an average of three per game), whereas Inagh‑Kilnamona have recorded only one goal, by Kealan Guyler against Cratloe.

Key forwards for Éire Óg include Shane O’Donnell, Marco Cleary (5‑9) and Danny Russell (4‑37). Inagh‑Kilnamona rely on Aidan McCarthy (0‑42), David Fitzgerald (0‑15) and Sean Rynne (0‑11) among others.

Defensive concerns for Éire Óg centre on injuries to Aaron Fitzgerald, Jarlath Collins and David McNamara, while Inagh‑Kilnamona will look to contain McCarthy with Robert Loftus if Fitzgerald returns.
