Donegal County Council approves new Malin playground

Donegal County Councillors have approved plans for a new colourful playground in Malin.

The motion, proposed by Cllr Martin Farren and seconded by Cllr Ali Farren, gave formal consent for works at Drumcarbit beside the car park on the R243.

The development will replace an existing recreational area and feature a range of equipment for children of all ages and abilities, including inclusive swings, toddler, junior and senior multi‑play units, a seesaw, springer, rocker, a musical chimes panel, sensory play items and a wheelchair‑accessible roundabout.

The layout divides the site into distinct play zones with coloured safety surfacing, and will add seating, new fencing, gates, landscaping and signage, all overlooking views of Trawbreaga Bay.

The approved Part 8 plans also cover the provision of safety surfacing and associated works for the playground.
