Ed Sheeran concerts at Gillette Stadium cancelled due to severe weather

Ed Sheeran’s two scheduled performances at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, on Friday and Saturday have been cancelled because of severe weather warnings across New England.

Safety cited as reason for cancellation

The venue issued a statement saying the decision was taken after consultation with local officials, the promoter and the tour, with fan, staff and public safety described as the “top priority”. Refunds are being processed automatically for tickets bought through Ticketmaster, and other purchasers can claim refunds at the point of sale.

High‑wind warnings remain in force until the early hours of Sunday, and authorities have urged drivers to limit travel in the area.

The cancellation comes as the tour has already attracted attention following the removal of support act Macklemore after his pro‑Palestinian remarks at earlier shows. Venue owners, including Gillette Stadium proprietor Robert Kraft, had lobbied for Macklemore’s exclusion, prompting criticism and a wider debate over free speech in music.

Sheeran has said the decision to drop Macklemore was made by his promoter, not by him, and he apologised to fans for the disruptions caused by recent controversies.
