President Connolly meets Arranmore RNLI lifesavers

President Catherine Connolly met the Arranmore RNLI lifeboat crew during her visit to the island this week.

The meeting took place at An Cultúrlan, where the crew were presented with cards, badges and information about the lifeboat station’s work by the grandsons of RNLI press officer Nora Flanagan.

The visit followed a busy period for the station, which carried out four medical evacuations from Arranmore in September. At the request of the Malin Head Coast Guard, the lifeboat assisted on 4 September, 12 September, 22 September and 25 September.

Arranmore RNLI Coxswain Kieran O’Donnell thanked the crew for their dedication, saying the summer had been very busy and praising their readiness to answer calls day and night.
