LA mayoral rivals to debate homelessness and job losses at forum
Two Democratic candidates for mayor of Los Angeles will appear together at a forum on Tuesday, just days…

The White House has begun airing a 30‑second television spot that mirrors a 2024 Trump campaign advertisement, with a disclaimer stating it is “Paid for by the U.S. Government.”
The black‑and‑white video shows former President Donald Trump walking down a hallway while his voice warns of a “final battle” against “globalists” and “warmongers,” ending with him looking directly into the camera.
Lawmakers from both parties have criticised the ads as political use of taxpayer money. The administration argues the spots are “public service announcements,” citing similar messages from previous presidencies that promoted policies rather than individuals.
According to media‑spending tracker AdImpact, spending on the latest ad has already exceeded $319,000. The narration includes pledges to “demolish the ‘deep state,’” “expel the war mongers,” and “drive out the globalists,” among other statements.
The new spot joins a minute‑long ad featuring night‑time footage of Mount Rushmore and a 30‑second ad that aired earlier in the week, which combined clips of Trump discussing communism with on‑screen text promoting “the largest tax cuts in history” and calls to “defend law and order and police.”
The White House defended the messaging, saying it does not call for votes and is intended to remind Americans of the country’s values at home, at the border, and abroad.
