Uibh Laoire secured the Cork Premier Intermediate Football Championship with a 4‑22 to 0‑23 victory over Kiskeam, earning senior status for the first time in the club’s history.
The Inchigeelagh side dominated the third‑tier final, never trailing and maintaining a lead of at least three points after the opening minutes. Their relentless goal‑scoring saw them finish with a double‑digit margin, a pattern repeated in three of their last five championship outings.
Ian Jones completed a hat‑trick by the 26th minute and added three more points, while his brother Chris Óg Jones contributed 1‑10, taking his championship tally to 6‑33 from play. Cathal Vaughan was prolific from placed balls, scoring four points from ‘45s.
Kiskeam struggled with kick‑outs, losing 11 of 15 first‑half restarts, and could only muster 0‑5 in the opening half. Despite a brief surge that saw them outscore Uibh Laoire 0‑14 to 1‑1, they could not close the gap.
The victory marks a rapid rise for Uibh Laoire, who were playing at Junior A level just six years ago and now join the senior ranks.
Scorers for Uibh Laoire were C Óg Jones (1‑10, 0‑1 from play), I Jones (3‑2), C Vaughan (0‑4 from ‘45s), S Pickering (0‑4, 0‑1 from play), with C Galvin and J Sweeney each adding 0‑1. Kiskeam’s points came from S O’Sullivan (0‑7, 2‑point frees), P O’Callaghan (0‑5, 2‑point frees), T Casey (0‑5, 2‑point frees) and others.
