Boy seriously injured in Buncrana fireworks incident

A young boy was hospitalised with serious injuries after a firework exploded in the Marian Park area of Buncrana at about 7.30pm.

The blast caused injuries to the child’s hands and face. Gardaí and emergency service personnel attended the scene and the victim was taken to hospital for treatment.

The incident follows a recent warning from local Gardaí about the hazards of fireworks. Garda Gráinne Doherty urged parents to check their children’s bags and discuss the risks, noting that many people sustain severe burn injuries at this time of year.
