The 2 Johnnies to host Pints in a Field gig in Cork on 19 June

The comedy duo The 2 Johnnies will stage their “Pints in a Field” stadium gig at Musgrave Park (Virgin Media Park) in Cork on Saturday, 19 June.

Jonathon “Johnny Smacks” McMahon and John “Johnny B” O’Brien arrived at the Metropole Hotel on Friday to meet the media and confirm details of the event, which will feature special guests Example, Jamie McIntyre, Sharon Shannon’s Ceilí and MC Andrew Ryan.

The concert will also include Ireland’s Sexiest Farmer Competition, a segment that originated from a discussion on the pair’s podcast and later went viral on television.

The duo described the show as a “dream come true”, noting that it is the closest to a home gig they can manage for a crowd of up to 18,000, after fans requested the live show be moved from Dublin to Cork.

Having previously performed at venues such as Cyprus Avenue, The Everyman, Cork Opera House, Live at the Marquee and Musgrave Park, the Tipperary pair recalled a prior stadium performance where a capacity of 15,000 was reached, with clubmates waving Irish flags.

Johnny B said he looks forward to returning to Cork next summer and will be drinking Murphy’s stout while there.
