The Late Late Show returned on Friday night with a line‑up that included American comedian Rosie O’Donnell, who spoke about Donald Trump, autism and her move to Ireland.
Host Patrick Kielty introduced O’Donnell as “Donald Trump’s favourite performer” before the 12‑time Emmy winner talked about covering for Jimmy Kimmel on his show and her concerns about hosting a talk show after a 25‑year break.
O’Donnell, now residing in Ireland, praised the kindness of the Irish people and said many Americans of Irish heritage are seeking to leave what she described as a “racist government”. She explained that she applied for Irish citizenship after deciding to leave the United States, noting she has lived in Ireland for almost two years.
Commenting on the impact of Trump’s administration, O’Donnell warned that “one mediocre man who is a criminal” has been given autonomy by the Supreme Court and that America is “sick of it”. She also referenced a long‑standing legal threat from former President Donald Trump, stating “you can’t sue someone who is telling the truth”.
The episode also featured comedian Emma Doran, rugby star Donncha O’Callaghan promoting his new show, athletes Kate O’Connor and Rhasidat Adeleke, presenter Síle Seoige discussing AI‑generated deepfake images of herself, and the finalists of The Traitors.
Musician Dave Lofts performed his song “Just a Man”, adding an indie‑folk element to the programme.
