Michigan credit union CEO dismissed after AI‑generated post

Family First Credit Union in Michigan has announced that its chief executive, Jane Smith, is no longer employed by the organisation.

The decision follows a social‑media post by Smith that displayed an image of herself and her family wearing sweaters printed with the phrase “Lake America”, a slogan linked to former US President Donald Trump. The image was later identified as having been created using artificial‑intelligence tools, reportedly ChatGPT.

In a statement confirming Smith’s departure, Family First Credit Union apologised for “the concern, disappointment and pain this situation has caused”. No further details about the circumstances or any disciplinary process were provided.

The incident highlights growing scrutiny of AI‑generated content by corporate leaders and the potential reputational risks it can pose.
