Angus bull auctioned at Raphoe Mart to benefit Ronald McDonald House

An Angus bull will be auctioned at Raphoe Livestock Mart on Thursday, 1 October, with all proceeds going to the Ronald McDonald House charity.

The bull is being donated by the family of Eoin Brogan, a 14‑year‑old from Castlethird, Carrigans, who died on 29 September 2023 after a lengthy hospital stay for a rare metabolic condition.

Eoin, an Honorary Garda and Little Blue Hero, spent 197 days in Crumlin and Temple Street hospitals and was supported by Ronald McDonald House, which provides accommodation for families of seriously ill children.

To mark the third anniversary of his death, his family offered the bull for auction and will direct the money to the not‑for‑profit charity. Raphoe Mart has waived the auction fees and the Inishleigh Co‑Op has supplied a meal for the animal. A donation bucket will also be available at the mart.

Ann Brogan, Eoin’s mother, said the charity was a “lifeline” for their family and hopes the auction will allow other families to benefit in the same way.
