Over 1,500 motorists caught speeding in Bank Holiday road policing operation
Gardaí have recorded more than 1,500 speed‑limit offences during the first two days of the October Bank Holiday…

A man in his 40s was accidentally shot in the leg inside a van while returning from a hunting session in County Clare on Tuesday morning, 13 October.
The incident occurred at Coolreagh, south‑east County Clare, shortly after 5 am, when one of the two licensed firearms the hunters were carrying discharged unintentionally.
Both men continued towards Limerick in a black Volkswagen van, which later pulled into a forecourt on the Corbally Road, Limerick, about 32 km from the shooting site. Gardaí and an ambulance met them at the filling station.
The injured hunter was taken by ambulance to University Hospital Limerick. Gardaí said his injuries were not life‑threatening.
The van was cordoned off and subjected to a forensic examination by Gardaí in Limerick. The investigation is being treated as an accident, with a technical examination of the scene ongoing.
