Nemo secured a quarter‑final victory over Castlehaven at Páirc Uí Chaoimh, overcoming early doubts about their championship prospects.

Manager Robbie O’Dwyer said many had written the team off after a heavy loss to Newcestown in July, but the side proved “phenomenal” with hunger and drive that carried them through.

Match performance

Nemo dominated the first half, winning six of the Barrs’ long kick‑outs and converting nine of the 13 kick‑outs they received. They held Castlehaven’s top scorer, Steven Sherlock (who finished the championship with 2‑30), scoreless, as well as limiting Rickey Barrett to no scores.

When Castlehaven drew level at the 57‑minute mark, Nemo responded with four scores in the next five minutes, ultimately sealing the win and ending any lingering doubts.

The victory follows a challenging period for Nemo, which saw injuries to key players such as Colin Molloy and the absence of a starting quartet including Barry Cripps, Mark Cronin, Bryan Hayes and Conor Horgan. Despite these setbacks, the team’s collective effort earned O’Dwyer high praise for their composure under pressure.
