Over 1,500 motorists caught speeding in Bank Holiday road policing operation
Gardaí have recorded more than 1,500 speed‑limit offences during the first two days of the October Bank Holiday…

Gardaí are carrying out precautionary checks at a number of primary and secondary schools across Donegal following bomb threats received by email this morning.
The threats were sent to school principals, prompting Gardaí to attend several establishments and liaise with staff. Schools have been advised to contact their local Gardaí with any concerns and to report the threats by calling 999.
An Garda Síochána confirmed they are assessing the situation, examining both the content and credibility of the communications and investigating their source. The Department of Education said it has consulted with the authorities and reiterated the advice that schools should cooperate fully with Garda instructions.
Although no pupils were present due to public‑sector strikes, teachers, SNAs and school staff were picketing outside the schools. The department added that schools may continue to operate as normal unless further guidance is issued by the Gardaí.
The threatening emails received in Donegal are reported to be similar to those sent to schools in other parts of the country.
