Over 1,500 motorists caught speeding in Bank Holiday road policing operation
Gardaí have recorded more than 1,500 speed‑limit offences during the first two days of the October Bank Holiday…

Four men have been charged with igniting illegal fireworks in Carran, Portsalon, County Donegal.
The charges relate to an alleged incident on 16 October 2025 and were mentioned at Letterkenny District Court this week. The accused are 19‑year‑old Eoin McGettigan of Kill, Carrigart; 19‑year‑old Adam Ward of Ford Garden, Kerrykeel; 20‑year‑old Dylan Logue of Tyrladen, Glencar, Letterkenny; and 19‑year‑old Mark Hunter of Drum, Portsalon.
All four have been charged under section 80 of the Explosives Act 1875 for “letting fireworks off”. Garda Sergeant Maurice Doyle told the court the matter could be dealt with in the District Court and that the offences are related.
Judge Emile Daly ordered that disclosure be provided to the men’s legal representatives by the end of November. The case was adjourned to January, when the accused will either plead guilty or request a hearing to contest the charge.
Gardaí in Donegal have issued a warning that illegal fireworks carry severe penalties, including fines of up to €10,000 and up to five years’ imprisonment. The public were urged to report any suspicious fireworks activity, especially in the run‑up to Halloween, using the 24/7 contact numbers for Letterkenny, Milford, Buncrana and Ballyshannon.
