David James to host 2026 Autumn Cabaret at Harvey’s Point

Donegal singer David James has taken over as host of the Harvey’s Point Cabaret, opening the 2026 Autumn season on Wednesday night.

James, 27, first performed at the venue ten years ago after being given gigs by former host Noel Cunningham. He now returns with his own band to lead the Lakeside Ballroom audience.

The Cabaret, a tradition at the hotel since 2000, combines a gourmet dinner with a rotating line‑up of Irish entertainment. After a sell‑out summer run, the autumn series features a mix of music and dance, including world‑champion Irish dancers Niamh and Gavin Shevlin.

Guests also enjoyed performances by veteran broadcaster and musician Ronan Collins, X Factor star Mary Byrne and multi‑platinum‑selling singer Simon Casey, who joined James for a finale that saw the crowd sing “Sweet Caroline”.

Noel Cunningham praised James for his empathy and respect for both performers and audience, noting that the new host is adding his own “jovial charisma” while honouring the show’s legacy.

James said the role allows him to promote Donegal, inviting audiences from across the country to experience the hotel’s “finest examples” of local entertainment.
