Cork couple celebrate double wedding in Ireland and Malaysia

Stephanie Yates, a medical scientist from Little Island, Cork, and Dr Samuel Dairiam, an emergency department doctor, were married in Ireland on 15 May and held a second blessing in Malaysia on 27 June.

The pair first met at Mercy University Hospital in May 2020 during the Covid‑19 pandemic. Their engagement took place three years later on 27 July 2023 at Villa Cimbrone in Ravello on Italy’s Amalfi Coast.

The Irish ceremony was held at Our Lady Crowned Church in Mayfield, with a Mass led by Fr Charles Kiely and harp music performed by Carys Ann Evans. After the service the newlyweds were driven to their reception at Innishannon House Hotel in a Jaguar MK2 supplied by Cork Wedding Cars.

Family members included Steph’s mother Christine Yates and Sam’s father Felix Dairiam, while the couple remembered their late parents, Jim Yates and Judith Dairiam. The wedding party featured maids of honour Kimona Daniel Bourne and Jaimee Deschamps, best man Marvin De Jesus, groomsman Abhishek Sharma, flowergirls Kayniah Bourne and Millie Thomas, and pageboy Khaz Bourne.

Steph wore a Rosa Clará gown purchased from The White Ivy Bridal Boutique in Kenmare, and Sam’s suit was sourced from Malaysia. Photographs were taken by Dermot Sullivan and video coverage provided by RJ Creatives.

The second blessing and reception were hosted at the Eastern and Oriental Hotel in Penang, where Indian‑style attire and décor were featured, including a custom floral backdrop by Bryan Chew of O Hara Floris.
