Damien Cahalane will not be included in the Cork senior hurling panel for the 2027 season, reports say.
The St Finbarr’s player made his senior debut for the Rebels in 2012, switched to football in 2013 and returned to focus solely on hurling from 2015, becoming a regular fixture for much of the following decade.
Ben O’Connor’s side are due to meet later this month for pre‑season training, but the Irish Sun reports that Cahalane, who will turn 34 in August, will not feature.
During his time in red and white, Cahalane won four Munster SHC medals (2014, 2017, 2018 and 2025), starting each final, and was involved in three All‑Ireland final defeats (2021, 2024 and 2025). He also earned an Allianz Hurling League medal in 2025.
The decision follows a broader reshuffle in the Cork squad, including the retirement of Séamus Harnedy, the omission of Declan Dalton, Patrick Horgan’s retirement at the end of 2025 and Conor Lehane’s exclusion.
Cork’s first 2027 fixtures will be the Co‑op SuperStores Munster Hurling League games against Tipperary and Waterford, with a possible league final before the National League campaign begins with a trip to Tipp on the weekend of 23/24 January.
