White House defends taxpayer‑funded pro‑Trump ad on Fox as PSA

The White House said on Friday that a taxpayer‑funded advertisement aired on Fox News, which promotes former President Donald Trump, is a routine public service announcement.

In a detailed statement to news outlets, the White House press office argued that the ad, featuring audio of Trump urging voters to help him “defeat communism” and a rapid‑fire video review of his second term, is comparable to public service announcements produced by previous administrations.

Democratic officials have raised concerns that the ad could constitute illegal government propaganda aimed at influencing voters ahead of the upcoming midterm elections.

The statement did not address the legal questions raised by the Democrats, but maintained that the use of taxpayer money for the airtime was standard practice.
