Donegal Daily launches podcast examining Falcarragh predator case

Donegal Daily has launched a new podcast series, Donegal Daily Crime and Courts, to explore cases from local courts across County Donegal.

The inaugural episode, titled “Hidden In Plain Sight,” focuses on the conviction of Neil Ferry, a 69‑year‑old man from Ballyness, Falcarragh, who was sentenced to 12 years’ imprisonment for a series of sexual offences.

Ferry was found guilty on 34 charges after an 11‑day trial at Letterkenny Circuit Court, with the jury unanimously convicting him of 18 counts of sexual assault, 10 counts of indecent assault, five counts of attempted indecent assault and one count of attempted sexual assault.

Judge John Aylmer described Ferry’s conduct as “sustained and systematic” over a 17‑year period, resulting in an effective life sentence with the final three years suspended.

The podcast is presented by Donegal Daily editor Stephen Maguire and reporter Chris McNulty, who aim to go behind the headlines and delve into the details of local crimes.
