Foynes Flying Boat Museum launches 400‑seat event centre

Foynes Flying Boat & Maritime Museum in Co. Limerick has opened a new 400‑seat event centre, expanding its role from tourism to a year‑round entertainment venue for West Limerick and North Kerry.

The not‑for‑profit museum, which celebrated 37 years of operation in September 2026, aims to generate income during the winter months. The venue will host concerts, theatre productions, fashion shows, weddings and corporate events.

Its first major booking was a sold‑out concert by local artist Gearóid McCarthy, and a further sell‑out is expected for comedian Tommy Tiernan in November.

Free parking is provided directly in front of the museum, and tickets are sold via Eventbrite and Ticketmaster. Upcoming events include a Stars of Irish Country concert on 20 November, a Christmas celebration with the Limerick Gospel Choir on 12 December, and a concert by Meadhbh Walsh on 13 February.

The museum also re‑introduces cinema with a 100‑seat screen, showing “The Devil Wears Prada 2” on 25 September at €5 plus booking fees.

Revenue from the events programme will help retain full‑time staff and keep O’Regan’s Restaurant open for most of the year.
