Professor Gwen Moore elected president of International Society for Music Education

Professor Gwen Moore of Mary Immaculate College has been elected president of the International Society for Music Education (ISME), becoming the first Irish person to hold the role in the Society’s 73‑year history.

Moore, who is Ireland’s first full professor of Music Education, secured the position after a global poll of ISME members. Her election was announced at ISME’s General Assembly during the 37th World Conference in Montréal.

She will serve a six‑year term, lasting until 2032, and is expected to promote greater international collaboration, research and engagement in music education.
