The Gardaí have signed 27 new recruits to the North Western Region, part of a national intake of 207 newly sworn members.

The North Western Region covers ten counties – Donegal, Sligo, Leitrim, Cavan, Monaghan, Louth, Galway, Mayo, Roscommon and Longford – and will now benefit from the additional personnel.

Allocation of the 207 new Gardaí across the state is as follows: 84 to the Dublin Region, 76 to the Eastern Region, 20 to the Southern Region and 27 to the North Western Region.

With these appointments, An Garda Síochána reaches its highest ever strength in the history of the State, totalling 14,825 sworn members.

The new Gardaí will assume operational duties throughout the region, supporting local policing and community safety initiatives.
