Dominick McCarthy, 20, appeared in Cork District Court on Thursday and was charged with several offences under the Misuse of Drugs Act.

Detective Garda Michael Abernethy alleges that cannabis with a street value of €47,000 and cocaine worth just over €3,000 were seized from McCarthy’s home at 20 Kilmore Heights, Knocknaheeny, on 18 February.

McCarthy is charged with possession of cannabis and cocaine for the purpose of sale or supply, as well as money‑laundering after allegedly possessing €4,930 in proceeds of crime at the same address.

Judge David Waters noted the alleged drug values and indicated that jurisdictional matters would be addressed later. Sergeant David Fleming requested an adjournment to 14 January 2027 to allow time for forensic analysis of the seized items and for directions from the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The judge agreed to the adjournment, stating that if DPP directions are not available by that date, the court should be informed of any forensic results, after which jurisdiction can be determined.
