US news outlets barred from White House after judge’s order

Journalists from CNN, MS NOW and POLITICO were turned away from the White House on Thursday, prompting their lawyers to seek an emergency hearing.

In a court filing, the news organisations said Secret Service agents confiscated the hard passes of the journalists, despite a federal judge’s order that required the restoration of their access.

ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox News have also refused to resume video coverage of White House events until full access is granted to CNN.

The incident follows ongoing disputes over media access to the White House under President Donald Trump.
