Aodhan Byrne vows to fight in Kildare after Letterkenny win
Aodhan Byrne has announced his intention to stage a bout in Kildare following his 3‑0 points victory over…

Enniskillen‑born boxer Rhys Owens said he is now looking for a title opportunity after securing an eight‑round points victory over Peruvian southpaw Cesar Ignacio Paredes in Letterkenny.
Owens, who is unbeaten at 5‑0 with one knockout, won the bout 80‑72 and said the win makes him “title‑eligible”. He added that any future fight would need to make sense financially and be staged on a “big show”.
Owens indicated he is open to both domestic and overseas opportunities, including a possible Irish crown or a Celtic strap. He recalled becoming an Irish Elite champion in November 2024 after defeating Adam Hession and noted that the recent fight was his first against a southpaw since beating Dylan Eagleson in an Ulster final in January 2025.
The boxer praised the support of around 300 fans who travelled from Fermanagh to Letterkenny despite stormy weather, saying their presence was vital to his performance.
