A warning has been issued after an area of quicksand was discovered on a beach in Glencolmcille, County Donegal.

The hazard was highlighted when a local man, walking his dog, became knee‑deep in the sand at a stream crossing near the Folk Village. He struggled to free himself, prompting concerns about the safety of the spot.

Donegal County Councillor Niamh Kennedy has called for immediate action, urging the council to install warning signs along the stream crossing that leads to the beach. She said the incident was a “terrible shock” for the gentleman, who has walked the area for many years without issue.

Residents and visitors have been advised to avoid the affected area until appropriate signage is in place.
