Public sector unions have confirmed a 24‑hour strike will take place on Thursday 12 November.

The Public Services Committee of the Irish Congress of Trade Unions said preparations are under way for the work stoppage, which will be marked by a rally in Dublin and additional rallies across the country.

In a statement issued today, the committee said the Government has “yet to make a credible offer to resolve the current dispute” and that unions will discuss intensifying the existing work‑to‑rule action and possible further industrial action beyond 12 November.

Talks on a public sector pay deal were adjourned without agreement on Friday night. The unions remain available for discussions and will meet the Government‑appointed group on Tuesday 3 November, the statement added.

The strike coincides with a meeting of EU leaders in Dublin as part of Ireland’s EU Presidency.
