Thirteen SuperValu stores across Ireland have been impacted by a suspected cyberattack that forced the removal of chilled and frozen goods.

Musgrave, the owner of the grocery chain, said the incident was limited to a specific model of refrigerators. As a precaution, chilled and frozen products in the affected stores were taken off sale, while all other items remain available.

The company assured customers that product safety is a priority and that any items on sale have been stored at safe temperatures.

Locations confirmed to be affected include SuperValu stores in Waterford, Lucan, Blanchardstown and Bray.

The Irish incident follows a wave of similar attacks across Europe, including hundreds of supermarkets in France earlier last month and stores in Sweden, Belgium and Luxembourg on 2 November, where remotely managed refrigeration units were set to unsafe temperatures.
