Munster host Glasgow Warriors in URC clash at Thomond Park

Munster will welcome Glasgow Warriors to Thomond Park for a United Rugby Championship match on Saturday at 5.30pm, marking coach Clayton McMillan’s second term.

McMillan’s first season began with five consecutive wins, but the squad now faces a demanding schedule, including a Champions Cup tie with Racing 92 at Páirc Uí Chaoimh next month.

The team is also coping with several injuries, most recently the shoulder surgery of Garryowen prop Tom Wood. McMillan said the operation is the best option for Wood’s short‑ and long‑term health and expressed confidence that the young player will return stronger.

New signings for the 2026/27 season include former England tighthead Kieran Brookes, Ireland international Jack Aungier and Springbok centre Marnus van der Merwe. Utility back Will Harrison remains sidelined, prompting the recall of Tony Butler.

Munster have also seen the retirements of John Ryan and Niall Scannell. McMillan will be looking to secure early points against Glasgow and then against the Bulls, who visit the same venue the following weekend.

Locally, the All‑Ireland League returns this Saturday, with Young Munster hosting Belvedere in Division 1A, Garryowen playing Instonians in 1B, and other fixtures across divisions 2A and the new 2BS (South) involving Thomond, Midleton, Buccaneers, Bruff, Bective Rangers and Old Crescent.
