Over 1,500 motorists caught speeding in Bank Holiday road policing operation
Gardaí have recorded more than 1,500 speed‑limit offences during the first two days of the October Bank Holiday…

Evan McLoughlin, 19, appeared before Ballyshannon District Court on Friday charged with burglary and trespassing while carrying a flick knife.
The offences are alleged to have taken place on 15 October 2026. He is charged under section 12(1)(b) and (3) of the Criminal Justice (Theft and Fraud Offences) Act 2001 for entering a building as a trespasser and committing criminal damage, and under section 10(1) of the Firearms and Offensive Weapons Act 1990 for being in possession of a flick knife.
Solicitor Gerry McGovern informed the court that bail terms had been agreed. Judge Éiteáin Cunningham granted bail on a €1,000 bond, with €500 lodged in court. Conditions include a curfew from midnight to 8 am, daily sign‑in at Sligo Garda Station, residence at his home address in Stephen McDonagh Place, Forthill, Sligo, and notification of any address changes.
Additional conditions require McLoughlin to stay away from the Mulberry Park estate, maintain sober habits and commit no further offence. The court noted that directions will be needed from the Director of Public Prosecutions and adjourned the case to Sligo District Court for 22 October 2026.
