Lifford barbers raise €6,346 for Grow Mental Health in 24‑hour marathon

A 24‑hour haircut marathon in Lifford raised €6,346 for the mental health charity Grow Mental Health.

The event, held from 19 to 20 September, was run by Philip Whyte and the team at Barber Brother, who kept the clippers running around the clock to raise funds and awareness.

Live music from Kenny Crawford, Linda Stewart and Susan Blee, along with face‑painting, a coffee van, food and goodie bags, kept participants and volunteers energized throughout the marathon.

Customers donated in exchange for haircuts, while supporters who could not attend contributed via an online fundraiser. Local businesses supplied spot prizes and items for a fundraising draw.

Whyte said the response from Lifford, Donegal and surrounding areas exceeded expectations and highlighted the importance of community involvement in mental‑health discussions.

The €6,346 will be used to provide community‑based support for people experiencing mental‑health challenges across Ireland.
