Agata Duda, a full‑stack engineer at Fidelity Investments, says the company’s graduate programme was a decisive step into a lasting career in financial services.
Duda studied at the Technological University of the Shannon (TUS) in Athlone, completing a level‑seven bachelor’s degree in software design with a focus on mobile applications and connected devices, followed by a level‑eight qualification and a master’s degree in software engineering.
She joined Fidelity’s Leap programme, which she describes as “structured and supportive”, offering a classroom‑like introduction to the firm’s technologies, processes and professional practices. The scheme guided graduates through onboarding, technical training, group projects and everyday workplace tasks such as calendar management and timesheet submission.
Duda highlights the appeal of working on large‑scale systems that impact customers’ financial goals, noting that financial services is “an incredibly innovative space”. She also praises Fidelity’s community initiatives, including laptop donation programmes and Fidelity Cares Month, where staff volunteer with local schools and organisations.
Having been with the team for just under two years, Duda says many responsibilities introduced during the Leap programme remain central to her role, and she continues to take ownership of her own learning in a constantly evolving tech environment.
