SEAI clarifies guidance on pre‑works BERs for defective concrete homes
Councillor Joy Beard has received an update from the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) regarding conflicting advice…

Members of the Foynes and District Community Council said they have received €60,000 from Limerick City and County Council for lighting the town’s car‑park, which they describe as a “danger area”.
At the September Adare‑Rathkeale area meeting the delegation highlighted a range of infrastructure projects – new road links to Limerick, a rail connection, upgraded wastewater facilities and zoned land for future housing – alongside rapid growth at Foynes Port and the Flying Boat Museum’s 30,000 annual visitors.
The council warned that traffic safety on the N69, speeding, vehicle‑pedestrian conflicts near the school and inadequate pedestrian crossings require an urgent safety review. They also raised concerns about ageing street lighting on residential side roads and the need for broader public‑realm improvements.
Cllr Adam Teskey, Cathaoirleach of the Adare‑Rathkeale district, praised the presentation and called for “equal distribution” of funding to support Foynes’ development, urging Limerick City and County Council to back a full‑scale public‑realm plan. Cllr Bridie Collins (FF) echoed the sentiment, noting the town’s “huge potential” and the need for a comprehensive plan and community cooperation.
