A specialist global aviation textile company based in south‑west Donegal has submitted a planning application to expand its manufacturing capacity.

Cuan Tamhnaigh Teoranta, which weaves and supplies treated fabric for aircraft seats from its Kilcar sites and employs almost 100 people, is seeking permission from Donegal County Council to develop a new unit at the Údarás Na Gaeltachta‑owned Ballymoon Industrial Estate outside the village.

The proposal would merge three smaller units into a single 2,268 square metre (24,400 sq ft) factory space, installing three loom weaving machines within the merged facility.

OC Architects, commenting on the application, said the company is an important contributor to the local economy, providing skilled employment. The development is expected to support existing jobs, allow for future employment growth and strengthen the firm’s long‑term operational capacity, thereby contributing positively to the economic vitality and sustainable development of the wider Kilcar area.
