Chinese artificial‑intelligence firm DeepSeek has unveiled a prototype autonomous coding agent called Super‑Agent, aiming to keep pace with rivals such as Anthropic’s Claude model.

According to a post on the WeChat platform by DeepSeek’s Harness team, the open‑source agent can monitor developer group chats, receive feedback on coding issues and suggest solutions without being prompted.

The Harness team was formed earlier this year to develop AI agents capable of competing with those offered by other organisations in the AI sector. DeepSeek’s move comes amid intense competition among Chinese and global AI companies to dominate the market for advanced, affordable and accessible tools.

In late October, DeepSeek raised roughly $15 billion in one of China’s largest private fundraising rounds, with investors including Tencent and battery maker Contemporary Amperex Technology. The funding is reported to precede preparations for an initial public offering, which could be filed by the end of the year or early 2027.

Rival Anthropic filed for an IPO in June, and OpenAI announced a similar plan a week later, though it later paused its listing over AI safety concerns. Anthropic is now expected to pursue an IPO that could raise €100 billion or more.
