A man in his sixties has been charged with the attempted murder of a doctor in Dublin.

Fionnbarra Ó Tuama, 65, of George’s Hill Apartments, Halston St, appeared at Dublin District Court on Saturday, 31 October. He was charged with the attempted murder of Dr Kevin Kilbride, which allegedly occurred at around 9 am on Friday morning at the HSE Daycare Medical Clinic, 9 Ushers Island, Dublin 8.

Detective Garda Mark Dennehy gave evidence that Mr Ó Tuama gave no reply when the charge was read at his arrest. His solicitor, Andrea Callan, said her client will seek legal aid and will apply for bail later. Judge Michéle Finan granted the request for legal aid.

Mr Ó Tuama was remanded in custody at Cloverhill Prison. Dr Kilbride received treatment at the scene and continues to be treated in St James’s Hospital.
